Ryan Bisio.

So a few months ago I posted some proofs of my friend—and very talented musician—Ryan Bisio, whose upcoming album art I shot.

Last week, he released that album at Monterey Live and I went down to make some photos for him and for the club (who I also shoot for).

I met Ryan last year at Monterey Live over a drink at we started chatting about this and that and talked shop on photos and our work. I shot one of his upcoming sets and we began to talk about what our work means to us and how we approach it and why.

We became friends based on the what I consider him and I both having a great love and passion for our respective art and way to understand our own lives and he asked if I could shoot him photo for an upcoming album, "Rose Side of the Thorn."

I wanted to capture a side of him that really spoke to the album and why he made it. As it turned out, I did just that. Together we created work that was honest, maybe a tad anxious and wanting, but most importantly; it was real.

Here are some photos. I approached it very journalistically and wanted to capture little details of his personality to show off the honesty.
