I wandered down to the Sunset Center this afternoon in hopes of shooting some behind-the-scenes of the dancers preparing for this weekend's Smuin Ballet.
One of the technical things that works in shooting with low-light is spot metering. Granted the lights were very bright, but I was able to create some nice "shadowy figure" photos at ISO 200 at some points.
I focused a lot on their feet, because it really created an emotive element to what they do as a performers.
I love shooting dancing as an art form, because even with vocal explanations, there are a lot of things said by their movements.
